Second City Wrestling features signing for third show
July 17, 2008
By Jessi Virtusio, Pro Wrestling columnist

Coming off the heels of "Second Coming," Second City Wrestling will be back in action with "Takeover" on Saturday in Midlothian.

"People should check out the show because they won't walk away disappointed and, of course, two words: Nora Greenwald," SCW owner Bridget Kelley said.

"Also Kiss FM will be on hand, as well as Joey from 'The Real World: Hollywood.' "

Hosted by 103.5 Kiss FM morning show personality Smash, the event will feature a few rematches from "Second Coming."

There also will be a few new faces and an autograph signing by Greenwald, formerly Molly Holly, World Wrestling Entertainment's two-time women's champion.

Greenwald will be signing for the hour before the show and for a half-hour during intermission. Attendees can purchase 8-by-10-inch photos, or bring their own items for her to sign.

"We were able to get in contact with Nora Greenwald and make her part of the show through some contacts we have," Kelley said.

"Having her appear at the show will help our company grow and maybe bring some fresh faces to check out the action.

"And, of course, bringing in a former WWE women's champion is a huge honor and privilege for us to bring to the fans."

Kelley predicted that the standout matches at "Takeover" would include:

• Sandy Beach (aka "The Chosen One" Micah) vs. the ICW/ICWA Texarkana TV champion "Sweet & Sour" Larry Sweeney in a rematch from "Second Coming."

"Fans at the last show were treated to a great contest between the two, with Sandy Beach coming out on top," Kelley said.

"Can he make it two in a row? If their last meeting was any sign of things to come, this match will not disappoint the fans."

• The Now (Vik Dalishus and Hale Collins) vs. the HeatSeekers (Sigmon and Shane Andrews).

"I have brought in the HeatSeekers to take on the Now in hopes of taking the Now out," Kelley said.

"The Now have been playing by their own set of rules, and hopefully they can be put in line.

"Will 'The Heatseekers' be able to do it, or will the Now yet again do as they please and get away with the win?"

The "Takeover" card also will include:

• Becky Bayless making her SCW debut against Tracy Taylor, whom Kelley called "a super-talented world traveler."

• "The Glamaman" Joey Phoenix and "The Renaissance Man" Lincoln Walker in a rematch.

"Will 'The Glamaman' be able to pull out the victory against 'The Renaissance Man' this time, or will he go down in flames again?" Kelley said.

Also, Evergreen Park resident Joey Kovar, of MTV's "The Real World: Hollywood," will make a special appearance at the event.

Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at the Don Preston Recreation Center, 14500 S. Kostner Ave., Midlothian.

The autograph signing with Nora Greenwald will begin at 6 p.m., and bell time is 7 p.m.

Tickets will be $15 at the door for the show only, or $20 for the show and signing. Presale packages are available by contactingsecondcitywrestling@gmail.com.

"Get in early to save money and guarantee you (will) get in that night," Kelley said.
